Battlefield 6 Gamers Agree: Tasks Are Excessively Difficult
The launch of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, particularly for its flagship multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, live player figures reached a high of nearly 750,000. Yet, despite its popularity, many players are voicing discontent with some of the game's most difficult challenges, which are mandatory to unlock specific weapons.
Users have commenced using tailored sessions made via the custom game tool to achieve these objectives, highlighting just how grueling these missions have become.
Understanding Battlefield 6 Tasks
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, in contrast to the frequently updated daily and weekly challenges. It features four types of assignments, but where most merely grant skins and a few gadgets, achieving the firearm tasks is the sole method of getting a dozen out of forty-one key firearms present in the game.
Several of these gated guns might eventually earn a place on rosters of the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Player Outcry on Reddit
Within Reddit, players are justifiably expressing their worries about how difficult and grindy a number of these challenges are. A particular gamer emphasized one of the most outrageous examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
- Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs
"This task is so awful and entirely ill-conceived, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a statement that captures just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.
The suppression feature in the game is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it lacks nearly as many benefits in combat as it had in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.
Additionally, firing an LMG without aiming is wildly inaccurate and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which is seldom the location you prefer to be. The same user also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that mission would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and the other way around.
Another Extremely Difficult Challenge
Another Reddit user pointed out an additional excessively hard challenge, this time in the long-range weapon type to access the PSR:
- Achieve 150 headshot eliminations over 200m with marksman guns
This is difficult enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at that kind of range.
There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but given there are merely nine maps in the game right now, it restricts you to playing a specific urban map, another expansive area, and maybe a classic map if you're lucky if you want to snipe from beyond 200 meters.
The Alternative Method
There is a workaround though: the custom game tool. This portal feature is a feature that enables you to make custom game modes on the battleground of your choice, complete with bots. This allows you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't really seem like the developer's vision.
But when doing the challenges in a standard match seems counterproductive, since you are forced to participate in such an unconventional way that offers no advantage to anyone, is it surprising for grinding them out in a custom game so allies are not impaired?
Future Adjustments
It won't come as a surprise if a number of these missions are adjusted to be less difficult in the near future, because unless they are modified, certain gamers simply won't get their hands on the locked firearms.
For now, the player base continues to voice their opinions on these demanding multiplayer missions, anticipating a fairer gaming experience in future updates.
