Mario's Galactic Adventure Preview Debuts, Unveiling Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voices

Nintendo alongside Illumination shared the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

The follow-up to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will transport Mario to the outer limits of the galaxy. In his journey, he meets a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.

A Space-Faring Quest Based on Beloved Titles

In the vein of the Wii-era games that act as its source material, Mario will depart from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. On his epic voyage, he will reunite with some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a fan favorite from the original cinematic release.

But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Notably, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers

The feature will see the return of the initial voice actors, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

A Significant Period for Mario

The upcoming Mario film is scheduled to arrive close to the four-decade milestone of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Beyond the film, 2026 looks set to be a significant year for Mario and his friends.

The company has a trio of new releases officially announced for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Premiere Date Announced

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
